Vicki Lynn Ruland Vetter, 72, of Wilmette, Illinois, laid down her earthly burden on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 2:17pm.
Vicki was the youngest daughter of Wesley Roman Ruland and Ruth Elizabeth Ruland (Baldwin), and sister to Diane (Brooks) and Cheryl Jean (Nelson). Vicki was an alumna of National-Lewis University.
A devout Christian Scientist, Vicki was a lifelong educator who dedicated her working life to teaching hundreds of students at Booth Tarkington Elementary in Wheeling/Buffalo Grove Illinois.
Vicki loved cats and any hungry, cold, homeless, or injured animal. She was a voracious reader, writer, home decorator, gardener, landscaper and figure skater.
Vicki is survived by sisters (in-law) Velvet Philippsen (Vetter), Victoria Slawson (Vetter) and Wendy Adelman (Bloom), nieces Shelly Philippsen and Elizabeth Barkmann, and nephews Robert and William Brooks, Erik and Izaak Philippsen, Scott Nelson, Arthur, Michael, and Thomas Barkmann, and husband Valiant Vetter.
Vicki is also survived by her good friend, John Leverentz. John has been Vicki’s “go to” guy for help with maintaining her beloved home.
Vicki will be profoundly missed by the Tarkington "Lunch Bunch" and skating friends.
A Celebration of Vicki's life will take place on December 18th, 2021 at 2pm. The family will provide additional details shortly.
No flowers please, but those desiring to honor Vicki's wishes are encouraged to donate to Felines & Canines who have graciously taken over care of Vicki's beloved cats Juliet, Indigo, Buster, and Red Jack.
