Steven Plambeck Obituary

In Loving Memory of Steve Plambeck
January 17, 1954 – January 20, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Gregory Plambeck, beloved husband, stepfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, who left us far too soon at the age of 71. Steve was known for his boundless curiosity, his adventurous spirit, and his infectious sense of fun.

Steve’s passions were vast. He had a deep connection with classic rock, especially the timeless sounds of Jethro Tull, The Beatles, Patti Smith, David Bowie, and Leonard Cohen. He loved attending concerts whenever his favorites came to Chicago. His voice was just as powerful as the artists he admired — Steve was a karaoke pioneer and an unparalleled singer, always at the center of the fun, whether on stage or with friends at home.

An avid researcher, Steve was fascinated by the unknown, and his particular passion was the mystery of the Loch Ness Monster, a subject he studied with both seriousness and playfulness. Steve was a fan of science fiction and fantasy, immersing himself in books, movies, and tabletop RPGs. He brought that same sense of wonder and creativity into every conversation, every project, and every game he played.

Steve leaves behind his loving wife, Alma, who was his singing partner as well as his life partner. He was a devoted stepfather to Cassie (Eric) and James (Michele). He was a loving brother to his siblings, Sue, Cindy and Mark, and uncle to his nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

 He will be deeply missed.
