Rita A Rucin, 84, born 13 January, 1940, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on 26 April, 2024 and was reunited with her husband of 48 years, Jerome L Rucin in heaven. Loving mother of Challise (Jim) Cantleberry of Charlotte, NC, Cheryl Rucin of Oak Lawn, IL, Craig (Carol Lynn Holmes) of Rzeszów, Poland, and Colleen (Dave) Wiegman of Wheaton, IL; dearest grandmother of fourteen grandchildren and spouses, dearest great-grandmother of eight great-grandchildren, loving sister-in-law, aunt and cousin to many. Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Agnes Wilkinson, and brother Roy Joseph Wilkinson. Although cancer took her from us suddenly, she will be remembered for the joy she brought to everyone who met her. Special thanks to all the doctors and personnel at Advocate Christ Hospital for their tenderness and loving care.
Throughout her life, she was known for her love for Jesus Christ, her desire to help others, and her passion to see them come to know him as she did. Officially registered as Reinbo the clown, she delighted children through outreaches and other programs for her church. Along with her husband Jerry, she was a founding member of the Joyful Noise, which helped to introduce Christian Contemporary Music to the Chicago area from the late 70s through the early 90s. She has served as an Agape Center volunteer, a church photographer, the email prayer chain coordinator, a longtime member of Moraine’s Global Outreach Team, a table leader for Coffee Break, a founder of Merry Widows, and a member of several other senior clubs in this area, including acting as secretary for the Palos Heights Seniors. Her heart for evangelism and missions led her to serve for several years as a volunteer for Global Media Outreach, answering questions of people all around the world who had questions about faith and the Bible.
