Nina Marie Whitsel nee Stein passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at her home after a valiant struggle with cancer on January 6, 2022. A Technicolor presence in a grayscale world, with a passion for reading, museums, travel, bridge, dogs, people and ideas. She is preceded in death by daughter Marnie and leaves behind son Roderick (Christine) daughter Ginger Hecht (Andreas) and beloved grandchildren, Felix, Samantha, Lukas, Sophie and Scarlett.
Born and raised in Whitefish Bay, WI she grew up with her cousin/sister Carol and spent summers working on the family ranch, Nina El Rancho, or jockeying cars for her father, at age 14. She attended Stephens College and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism before embarking on a PR career whose highlights included lighting the flame of the Seattle World’s Fair for the American Heart Association, Working on the first Ford Mustang campaign, The Cancer Society and much more. Her lifelong love of travel carried her across the globe for decades. Services will be held Sat Jan 15 at St. Pauls and internment Sun Jan 16 at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
