Emmett George III, 51, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born on August 11, 1974, in Chicago to his mother, Mayme George, and father Emmett George II (late), Emmett lived a life devoted to family, faith, and his many passions. He was the beloved husband of Marva, a devoted father to his sons Malcolm and Jamoele, his daughter Caitlin, and a proud grandfather to Lila. He is also survived by his uncle Arthur and many other relatives and dear friends.
Emmett graduated from Knox College with a degree in Environmental Science and went on to earn his master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Chicago. A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, he balanced his career with active involvement in his church community, including time spent with the Cub Scouts alongside his son.
A true sports enthusiast, Emmett was a passionate fan of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Arsenal Soccer Club in London, and wrestling. He also loved reading, traveling, and enjoying music from all walks of life. His warmth, humor, and boundless energy touched everyone who knew him.
A celebration of his life and faith will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Village Church of Barrington, 1600 E Main Street, Barrington, Illinois, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Village Church of Barrington’s Benevolence Fund.
