Elsie Nunez Chohan was born June 16, 1938 to Juan and Pilar Nunez in Sibalom, Antique Provence in the Philippines. She was the 7th of 8 children. Her siblings are Joel, Joe, Reuel, Ricardo, John, Lilian, & Ruth. She grew up in Iloilo to a large and loving family has many nieces and nephews in the Philippines, Canada, and here in the US with whom she has always shared a special bond.
She was educated as a Pharmacist from Manila Central University. In the late 60s, she immigrated to the US, became a citizen, and made a home here in Chicago. She studied
and became a Medical Technologist and worked in that career until her retirement in 2014 from Oak Park Hospital.
She was a woman of great faith who loved God's word, hymns and worship, and fellowship with her church family. She joined
Midwest Bible Church in 1978 and was a member there the rest of her life.
She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who took great pride in the closeness she shared with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving family: son Sajid "Sonny Boy" and his wife Lisa Chohan and their two boys, Gideon James and Elisha Wayne; daughter Saira and her husband Josh McDaniel and her two boys, Maxwell John and Benjamin Josiah; and son Riaz "Jun" and his wife Julie Chohan, and their three sons, Elias Addison, Sebastian Phinehas, and Isaac Daxton.
On Sunday evening, December 13th, 2020, she took her final breath here on this earth and entered the arms of God and the fellowship of her family who has gone before. She will be remembered as a caring, thoughtful woman known for perseverance through great trials, incredible work ethic, most importantly, her overwhelming generosity.
