Dorothy Lois Allen went home to be with her Savior on November 7, 2025 at the age of 102.
Dorothy was born in Chicago on May 6, 1923 to Ed and Helen Jensen. She was the firstborn and was so proud when she become a big sister to Leonard and Muriel, who both preceded her in death.
Dorothy was raised in a household of faith where Jesus was head of the home and at a young age she asked Jesus to be her Savior and made Him the cornerstone of her life.
On October 25, 1947 Dorothy married her best friend and love of her life Frank Allen. They welcomed 3 children into their lives and went on to be blessed with 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. They enjoyed 76 years together before the Lord brought Frank home in April 2024.
Dorothy attended Bethel Community Church from birth on and became a member in May 1937 at the age of 14. Those 88 years of membership stands as the longest in Bethel's history. She loved Bethel and served the Lord there in many capacities well into her 80's. Teaching Sunday School at age 15, a Pioneer Girl's leader in her late teens, serving as a High School leader for 10 years until the age of 81. (The students lovingly called her Grandma Dor).
Dorothy was brought up in a very musical family and taught herself to play the piano "by ear". She was also a gifted singer and soloist at church. She joined the Bethel Choir at the age of 14 and faithfully served there for over 70 years.
Dorothy also had a huge heart for Missions and served with Frank on the Mission Committee for 25 years.

Hospitality was one of Dorothy's gifts. The Allen home was the place for all kinds of celebrations and fun get-togethers. Every holiday meant a family party at their home. Dorothy loved her family dearly and left such a Godly legacy. Her life was a beautiful example of a follower of Jesus Christ.
Dorothy is survived by her children Philip Allen (Connie) Sharon Olsen (Randy) Wayne Allen (Helen), Son-in-law Rich Hammer. Grandchildren: Timothy Allen (Cari), Christopher Allen (Dana), Nicholas Allen (Becki), Craig Allen (Sarah), April Driscoll (Jeremy), Ryan Hammer (Emily), Stephanie Statema (Billy), Kristen Allen. Great Grandchildren: Anya, William, Emmalyn, Abigail, Claire, Ashley, Charlie, Harrison, Chloe, Maddie, Logan, Owen, Ben, Eliana & Davin.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 22, at Bethel Community Church 7601 W. Foster Ave. Chicago.
Visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 am followed by the service.
Memorial Gifts may be given to Bethel Community Church Missions Fund.
