Donald W. Monahan, 72, originally of Oak Lawn Illinois and later Strong’s Prairie Wisconsin, son of Warren J Monahan and Ann Monahan (Pitonyak) passed away at his home May 12th 2024.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Monahan and Daughter, Lauryn Monahan, two grandsons, Cayden Monahan and Hendrick Grattoni as well as sisters Patricia Flieger, Dianne Pierce and brother Warren Monahan.
Donald enlisted in the US Marine Corps before high school graduation in 1968 and served honorably in Vietnam as a cook initially and later as a door gunner / aviation crewman. He came home and found a career in sales and later construction management.
He loved the Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks, Bears and hated the Cubs, Cubs fans, and Chicago Bears ownership. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drinking, playing pool, pizza and his riding lawnmower which came with a cupholder.
Donald’s memorial service will be a short affair, as he wished, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421) on Wednesday June 26th 2024 at 1:45pm.
