America Yolanda Walton, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded her family at Rush University Hospital in Chicago on Thursday, May 29, 2025, after a long battle with heart complications.
Born on September 9, 1960, in Chicago Illinois, to Jose “Pepe” and Maria “Yolanda” Villar, America grew up with a deep love for her faith and family. She attended Emmaus Bible College in Chicago, where she met the love of her life and best friend, Allan Walton. They were married on March 26, 1983, and remained devoted to one another until her passing.
Despite a lifelong journey with illness, America’s life was a testament to unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her strength, gentleness, and joy in the midst of suffering inspired all who knew her.
America is survived by her beloved husband Allan; their five children: Miriam Elvert (Brian), Rachel Durbin (Sean), Elizabeth Hankins (Cody), Annah Rill (Skylar), Noah Walton (Tiffany); and 12 cherished grandchildren: Penner Durbin (15), Eden Durbin (12), Ezra Durbin (9), Selah Durbin (7), Walker Walton (4), Harper Hankins (3), Piper Hankins (3), Jude Walton (3), Nahum Durbin (1), Levi Walton (1), Ezekiel Rill (8 months), Logan Walton (1 week).
She is also lovingly remembered by her two grandchildren who preceded her in death: John Silas Elvert (born and passed on March 19, 2022) and Simeon Brian Elvert (born and passed on March 14, 2023).
Her legacy continues with two grandchildren expected to arrive soon: a baby girl Elvert (due June 2025) and a baby boy Hankins (due July 2025).
America is also survived by her mother, Maria “Yolanda” Villar, and her siblings: Michelle, Carol, and Alex.
