Linda Mary “Dolly” Thompson was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven to be with the Lord our savior on Wednesday December 5th of 2018, at the age of 71. Dolly is survived by her daughters Debbie and Ginger; son-in-law Terry; grandchildren Terry, Bobby, Jessica, and Alexis; great grandchildren Cohen, Brody, Jase, Blake, Lincoln, and Paisley; siblings Jeanie, Jimmy, Carol, and Cathy; many nieces and nephews; and her loving cat Bud Bud. She is preceded in death by both her parents, Ralph and Florence (Donarski) Goodeve; siblings Larry, Gail, Pike, and Barbara.
Dolly, a lifelong Chicago resident, was the ninth of ten children born to the late Ralph and Florence Goodeve, director of the Diversey driving range for the Chicago Park District and homemaker, respectively, on Thursday May 8th of 1947, at their residence of 1144 W. Shubert Ave in Chicago, Illinois. She started working at an early age after graduating from Oscar Mayer School in 1961. Some of her wide range of occupations included being a security officer for WGN studios working alongside The Bozo Show, a road manager for an Elvis impersonator, a factory worker for Turtle Wax, and finally retiring as a mailroom clerk from Beltone in 2006, after working there for over a decade. She enjoyed traveling, spending time in the sun, and could be found swimming every chance she had. She was a devoted Christian as well as a member of Maplewood Bible Baptist Church.
Dolly will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She touched the hearts of many and was a true blessing to all who knew her.
Visitation for Dolly will be held at the Christian Funeral Home in Chicago, Illinois beginning at 9 am to noon on Friday December 14th of 2018. The funeral service will be held directly following the wake beginning at 12 pm. She will be laid to rest at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Elmhurst, Illinois. Pastor Tom Brennan will officiate the service. Prayers, condolences, and memories are greatly appreciated by the family.
